Traveling and Family Safety

In the next few weeks, over a hundred million Americans are estimated to be traveling. A considerable portion of the population will be families with kids. If you are included in these numbers, how can you keep your family safe and enjoy a nice relaxing time out of town. Here are a few tips to help you keep your family safe this winter vacation.
Prepare your children with a recovery plan
Before heading out to a public location where a child could get lost, one thing you could do is prepare your child with instructions on what to do if they get lost. For example, set a familiar meeting spot to go to. Emphasize the importance of staying at that meeting spot until they are found, either by the family, local authorities, or other responsible individuals.
Dress your children appropriately
Another idea you can try is to dress your children in such a way that could make it easier for you to spot them in a crowd. For example, you could give your girl a pink hat to wear, or you could give your boy a blue shirt that is easily recognizable from a distance. Even if you don't give your child something bright colored to wear, taking a good mental note of what they are wearing is sure to prove helpful.
Make sure your children have your contact info
You may also consider writing down your contact information, or other important information down on a card and instructing your child to keep it on them at all times. That way, should they get lost, they can hand the card to an authority and you will be promptly contacted.
Here at SafeFamilyBlogs.com, we wish you safe travels within the next few weeks, and hope your family stay safe and secure.
