Safe Family Blog
It comes as no surprise that social network use has skyrocketed within just the past few years. Did you know that if you were to walk up to a random tech-savvy person in 2009 and ask them what "Instagram" is, they would have no clue? With all of these new technologies that have become so commonplace, new safety issues have been raised as parents are facing threats no parents in history have ever faced before.
Take for example your young inexperienced child using a social network. Did you take your family on vacation or on a road trip this summer? Are you aware of what your child posted on social networks while you were away? Are you aware of who your child has as friends and followers of his social network account? These are all important details to look into, as they could contribute to the growing problem of children giving away too much information to people they don't really know. Explain to your child the importance of not posting personal information online, such as addresses, phone numbers, and pictures of private documents such as ID's. A little warning could prevent a serious problem.
